Founded in 1843 in Aÿ, the Besserat de Bellefon house is recognized for its production of "gourmet" champagne. It was born from the marriage of Edmond Besserat and Yvonne Méric de Bellefon. Indeed, not undergoing malolactic fermentation, their champagnes are reputed to be wines for aging with 30% finer bubbles.
The house owns 25 ha and sources grapes from local winegrowers to increase their production capacity. Besserat de Bellefon champagne nowadays belongs to the Lanson-BCC group.
The Brut cuvée was created in 1930 and is the first cuvée in the range.
Tasted in November 2021: A pure marvel for lovers of old champagnes. Notes of toast and nuts, a sublime evolution with a still very present bubble. The dosage is moderate unlike many cuvées produced at this time. Less than 200 chf for this 1982 magnum? You shouldn't even think twice if you're a champagne lover
