"Do you really want to propose this bottle, human ?"
It is in these terms, very wise, that our inspector of work in progress came to interrupt us, in the middle of a photo shoot. Because he knows it, his human loves Clos des Goisses and the 1986 vintage is very rare today. But, we have to leave some nice bottles for our customers.
Clos des Goisses is THE great vintage cuvée of the moment. To give you an idea of the style of the wine, it could be a combinaison of the great finesse and elegance of the Cristal cuvée with the impact of the Grand Siècle cuvée. The best of both worlds in short.
The 1986 harvest produced 26,188 bottles, which is a reasonable quantity but well below the production of Dom Pérignon, much less rare.
This cuvée is made from a blend of Pinot Noir (75%), Chardonnay (30%). The wines are aged for 3/4 in oak and without malolactic fermentation, which allows it to retain high acidity but also requires more aging before being tasted. And that's good, because the bottles sleep in cellars for 8 to 12 years before disgorging.
WUAT's opinion: We hope that this bottle will be rightly appreciated by those who will taste it (it would be sad not to share it). Otherwise our work inspector would be extremely disappointed.
