Today, the "Brut Divin" cuvée is called "Essentiel Blanc de Blanc". Why change the names of the cuvées every 10 years? It's a mystery. We estimated this bottle to be from the years 2002 to 2007.
By reading the description on the original case (see quote below), we can clearly see the bygone era when Chardonnay was the undisputed king of Champagne.
The Brut Divin cuvée from Maison Piper-Heidsieck is a Blanc de Blancs champagne. The Blanc de Blancs blend, composed exclusively of Chardonnay, the most divine of the three grape varieties in Champagne, is characterized by its great finesse, freshness and elegance. This charming and exceptional wine will delight all true champagne lovers.
WUAT's opinion: We recently tasted Maison Piper cuvées dating from the same period. We were impressed with the quality of the wines. Very little sugar, chalky and creamy to perfection. Powerful notes of toast and cedarwood. A good length, no bitterness or heaviness. In short, a bottle that can be drunk in a few minutes.
If you like slightly evolved chardonnays you will have a lot of fun with this bottle.
