Pommard 1999 - Château de Pommard

Presentation of the domain:

Château de Pommard is one of the most famous wine estates of the Côte de Beaune, located in Burgundy, in the village of Pommard. The estate is known for its elegant and complex red wines, made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. It extends over more than 20 hectares and produces wines classified in the Pommard, Corton, Beaune and Meursault appellations.

Château de Pommard is now owned by the Carabello-Baum's family, who moved to Burgundy from San Francisco in 2014. That same year, the estate began its organic and biodynamic conversion. The first totally biodynamic vintage will be marketed in 2022.

Presentation of the cuvée:

Le Pommard is one of the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune and produces powerful and tannic red wines, capable of aging for many years. The Château de Pommard cuvée is one of the most representative of this appellation, produced from selected vines and aged with care to offer a complex and elegant wine.

About the 1999 vintage:

The 1999 vintage experienced exceptional climatic conditions in Burgundy, marked by a hot and dry summer which allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly. The 1999 Pommard is therefore a very concentrated and powerful wine, which presents intense aromas of red and black fruits, as well as spicy and woody notes. It can be drunk now but can also be kept in the cellar for several years.

Food and wine :

The 1999 Pommard is a powerful and structured wine that will go perfectly with red meat dishes such as a filet mignon of beef or a rack of lamb. It can also go well with soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.

Serving Tips:

It is advisable to serve the Pommard 1999 at a temperature of 16 to 18°C before allowing it to warm up in the glass. It is recommended to decant it one hour before tasting it so that it can express all its aromas.
