Volnay 1er Cru "Cailleret" 2005 - Nicolas Rossignol

According to a traditional adage, who does not have a vineyard in Caillerets doesn't know the true value of Volnay. This perfectly sums up this 1er cru, ideally located halfway up the slope, on gentle, marly and stony slopes. This terroir is the flagship of the appellation, entirely planted with Pinot Noir.

After manual harvests sorted with great care on the table, Nicolas Rossignol proceeds to a traditional vinification which ends with a long aging in barrels of almost 20 months, to reveal the cuvée. The proportion of new wood can go up to half, depending on the vintage.

The cuvée which is born in this way is dense, elegant, velvety and made for aging over 10 years. 2005, tannic and tight, approaching its apotheosis.
