The 1er Cru "Champ Gain" is located in the upper part of the slopes of the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. The excellent drainage, the composition of the soils and its exposure to the east make this wine particularly delicate, mineral and floral. This peculiarity denotes other Puligny-Montrachet crues which are known for their power and richness.
The name "Champ Gain" means won land. The vines that are planted there are in areas formerly occupied by the forest.
The official name of this Premier Cru is "Champ Gain" but it often happens that it is written "Champs Gain" or Champs-Gains "depending on the period and the domain.
This bottle aged particularly well as you can see on the picture. Please let it breath at least 30 minutes before drinking it. The best would even be to decant it.
