Gevrey-Chambertin 2015 - Armand Rousseau

Presentation of the domain:

Domaine Armand Rousseau is located in Burgundy, in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. It was founded in 1902 by Armand Rousseau and is now run by his grandson Eric. The estate covers an area of 14 hectares and produces high quality wines. The vines are cultivated in the traditional way, with deep respect for nature and the soil. The estate's wines are regularly ranked among the best in the region.

Presentation of the cuvée

The Gevrey-Chambertin cuvée is one of the most important cuvées of Domaine Armand Rousseau. It is a high quality red wine, produced with grapes from vines between 40 and 60 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before being vinified. The wine is aged in oak barrels for around 18 months, with a variable proportion of new barrels depending on the vintage. The Gevrey-Chambertin cuvée is considered one of the references of the appellation.

About the 2015 vintage:

This Gevrey-Chambertin is a rich and complex wine, with aromas of red and black fruits, undergrowth and spices. The 2015 vintage was marked by ideal climatic conditions, with a hot and sunny summer, followed by a cool and dry autumn, which allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly and develop great concentration and lovely freshness.

Food and wine:

The Armand Rousseau 2015 - Gevrey-Chambertin cuvée is a wine that goes perfectly with red meats, game, mature cheeses and dishes with sauce. But given the rarity of this bottle, perhaps it would be wise to taste it for itself.

Service tips

Serve at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius and let it set a few degrees in the glass. It is recommended to open it one hour before serving it or to decant it to allow the aromas to fully develop.

Note from WUAT: It is extremely difficult for us to obtain Rousseau wines in good conditions and with good traceability. This bottle is a rarity that we will probably never have again.
