Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2010 - Vincent Girardin

Presentation of the domain:

The Vincent Girardin estate is located in Meursault and has been producing high quality wines for over 40 years. Founded in 1982, the estate extends over more than 20 hectares of vineyards spread over several prestigious appellations in the region. Vincent Girardin works closely with local winemakers to produce wines that perfectly reflect the terroir and identity of each appellation.

Presentation of the cuvée:

Le Clos de Vougeot is a prestigious Burgundy appellation which is produced on enclosed land. The slightly sloping soil is clay-limestone with shale.

The Vincent Girardin 2010 cuvée comes from vines over 50 years old. This wine is aged on fine lees for 18 months in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new, which gives it a rich and complex tannic structure, as well as a subtle aroma of vanilla and spices.

Presentation of the 2010 vintage:

The 2010 vintage in Burgundy was marked by an exceptionally hot and dry climate, which allowed perfect ripening of the grapes. The harvest was carried out at optimum maturity, which made it possible to produce red wines with a balanced tannic structure and a great concentration of flavors. A great wine for laying down which can be enjoyed today.

Food and wine :

Le Clos de Vougeot 2010 - Vincent Girardin is a wine that goes perfectly with red meat dishes, such as grilled beef, roast lamb or game. It can also be served with cheese dishes, such as goat cheese or brie.

Serving Tips:

2010 is not the easiest vintage to taste in Burgundy. The wines indeed offer a stricter style than those of solar vintages like 2005 or 2009. It is therefore recommended to decant this bottle at least one hour before tasting it to allow the wine to breathe and release all its aromas.
