Vosne-Romanée "Maizières" 2009 - Domaine Anne Françoise Gros
Presentation of the domain:
Anne-Françoise Gros is the daughter of Jean Gros, former owner of the family estate. She is the 6th generation of Gros family winegrowers, settled in Vosne-Romanée since 1830. The estate covers an area of 6 hectares, spread over several appellations of the Côte de Nuits. Anne-Françoise took over the management of the estate in 1995, and since then she has endeavored to produce high quality wines, respectful of their terroir.
Presentation of the cuvée:
The Vosne-Romanée "Maizières" cuvée is produced from vines located in the "Les Maizières" climate, to the north of the Vosne-Romanée appellation. At the limit of Suchots and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, just that!
This climate is known for producing wines that are both elegant and powerful, with aromas of red fruits and spices. The "Maizières" cuvée comes from old vines over 60 years old, which gives the wine great complexity. The vinification is traditional, with fermentation in open vats, followed by aging in oak barrels (including 30% new barrels) for 16 months.
Presentation of the 2009 vintage:
The 2009 vintage was characterized by a hot and dry summer, followed by a sunny and cool autumn. The harvest began at the end of September, under ideal conditions. The grapes were ripe and healthy, with thick skins, which made it possible to obtain concentrated and powerful wines, with a good tannic structure. This is a reference vintage for all lovers of Burgundy wines.
Food and wine :
The Vosne-Romanée "Maizières" 2009 ideally accompanies grilled or roasted red meats, as well as dishes in sauce. It can also be enjoyed with aged cheeses. Given the rarity of this bottle, it may be wise to taste it for itself, possibly with a little cheese.
Serving Tips:
The Vosne-Romanée "Maizières" 2009 should be served at a temperature of 18°C. It is advisable to open it 1 to 2 hours before tasting it, and even to decant it if possible, in order to fully enjoy it.
