Richebourg Grand Cru 1993 - Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur
Presentation of the domain:
The Gros Frère et Soeur estate, located in Vosne-Romanée, is one of the most prestigious in the Côte de Nuits. Founded in 1960, it covers an area of 20 hectares spread over several appellations, including the famous Clos Vougeot, Richebourg, Echezeaux and Grands-Echezeaux. The estate's vines are grown organically and the vinification is traditional, respectful of the terroir and the grape.
Presentation of the cuvée:
The Richebourg cuvée is one of the jewels of the Gros Frère et Sœur estate from the famous Richebourg vineyard, located in Vosne-Romanée. This cuvée is renowned for its elegance, complexity and aging potential. It is considered one of the greatest expressions of Pinot Noir in Burgundy. The Richebourg cuvée is produced in limited quantities, making it a rare wine and sought after by connoisseurs around the world.
Ah Richebourg, that's a name we don't often pronounce. And for good reason, the Richebourg grand cru appellation area, which overlooks Romanée and Romanée-Conti, represents only 8.03 Hectares for an average annual production of less than 34,000 bottles.
Presentation of the 1993 vintage:
The 1993 vintage was a very good vintage in Burgundy, offering ideal climatic conditions for the ripening of the grapes. The Richebourg 1993 from Gros Frère et Sœur is a wine of great finesse, with complex aromas of red fruits, spices and undergrowth. On the palate it is powerful and concentrated, with an elegant tannic structure and a long finish. This wine is at its peak, offering a perfect balance between freshness and maturity. It can be enjoyed now, but can also be kept in the cellar for many years to continue to develop and evolve.
Food and wine :
The Richebourg 1993 from Gros Frère et Sœur goes perfectly with refined meat dishes such as fillet of beef, roast duck or game birds. It also goes well with mature cheeses, such as Époisses or Cîteaux.
Serving Tips:
It is difficult to advise you on this grandiose bottle. If it were just us, we would taste it for itself, trying to make the pleasure last for several hours and appreciate its evolution. A preliminary opening of one hour before the tasting in large glasses seems appropriate.
