Do you know the wines from the Vouvray appellation? If the answer is no, this gap will have to be filled.
The Vouvray are made from Chenin Blanc, which is good, you might say, for a wine produced in the Loire from which the Chenin originates.
The leader of the appellation is the Huet estate, which no longer needs to be presented. But many other producers produce wines of great quality. The terroir of Vouvray and Chenin Blanc produce fresh (understand naturally acid) and very aromatic wines. It is therefore possible to produce sparkling, dry, sweet and sweet.
This 1996 from Pinon is slightly sweet, but well balanced. Aromas of yellow apples, honey, wax and yellow flowers emerge. In the mouth the structure is there, the wine is powerful without being heavy, a marriage with an apple or apricot pie would be a must. But it is also very suitable for strong hard cheeses (you know the one you forgot at the back of your fridge).
It can very well be tasted today or within 10 years.
