Words from the domain concerning the 1998 vintage:
However, frank smiles replaced sad faces when the first vats were worked, analyzed and tasted. It is a vintage which reflects the strength of the terroir of Lafite, a very deep, dark color and a very beautiful woody, fruity and spicy attack on the attack. This 98 for long aging is very persistent, very rich and ample with a silky and very long finish
Tasting advice: Wines from Lafite almost always needs to be opened at least 12 hours before tasting. This vintage is no exception. You can also pour it in a carafe at least 4 hours before tasting.
