Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1981 - Pauillac

Presentation of the domain:

Château Mouton Rothschild is a wine estate located in the region of Pauillac, in Gironde. It was founded in the 18th century and is today considered one of the most prestigious estates in Bordeaux. The estate extends over an area of more than 90 hectares and is classified Premier Cru Classé in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. Each year since 1945, the label has been illustrated by a famous artist (Miro, Picasso or even Chagall for example)

Presentation of the cuvée:

Mouton Rothschild is the domain's main cuvée. It was created in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild and was the first Bordeaux cuvée to bear a château name. The cuvée is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months and is known for its complexity and elegance. The 1981 vintage was a rather difficult vintage with irregular weather conditions. Despite this, Mouton Rothschild 1981 is a wine that has aged well and has an excellent reputation.

Presentation of Mouton Rothschild 1981:

This vintage in particular is considered a solid vintage, although it was not outstanding. The wine is characterized by aromas of red fruits, spices and leather. On the palate it is elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish. In 1981, Arman Fernandez was chosen to illustrate the label of the famous house. 252,840 Bottles Produced and 4,700 Magnums.

Food and wine :

Mouton Rothschild 1981 is a wine that goes well with rich and powerful dishes such as grilled red meats, stews, game birds and strong cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own as an aperitif or at the end of a meal.

Serving Tips:

Wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C. It is recommended to open the bottle about an hour before tasting it to allow the wine to breathe. If necessary, the wine can be decanted to improve its bouquet.
