Château La Violette 1999 - Pomerol
Château la Violette takes its name, according to the statements, from the distinctive aroma of violets that emerges from the opening.
It's hard not to be influenced by tasting. This is why we advise you, if you are a player, to have it tasted blind.
The trend of this castle continues to climb since a certain "flying winemaker" took an interest in it. Added to this is the fact that this domain produces as many bottles as a small domain of Burgundy or Champagne, around 25,000 bottles per year, making it relatively rare.
The terroir and the long aging in barrels of this Pomerol allow it to age easily over 20 years.
Tasting notes: Tasted by us in January 2023 on meat en croute, truffle puree and asparagus. Bottle from a case of 12, for once we can taste it without restraint. It's a pure Pomerol at heart, the wine is very round, the tannins are almost completely melted. Moderately concentrated but very aromatic, it offers notes of flowers, very ripe red fruits and very light wood. The palate is all round and velvety. The bottle was drunk in less than 15 minutes at 4, a sign that we enjoyed it.
Food and wine pairings: Château La Violette 1999 goes perfectly with red meat dishes, aged cheses and truffle dishes. Its complexity and structure also make it a tasting wine to enjoy alone or with friends.
A wine to taste at least once in a lifetime, but for that, you have to find it.
