Château Petit-Village is located on the upper part of the magnificent Pomerol plateau at an altitude of between 35 and 38 meters, on a vineyard made up of beautiful gravel, in the very heart of the appellation. A prime location for producing very great wines faithful to this exceptional terroir.
Marrying the ancestral uses of working the vine with a perfect tool, whose modernity can only optimize great potential without hindering nature, such was the challenge we set ourselves at Petit-Village. Today, the extensive work of restructuring the vineyard and renovating the vat room and cellars is bearing fruit.
Each act that results in bottling, from manual harvesting to barrel aging, is guided by a sense of values and respect for the terroir in its truest expression.
The wines of Château Petit-Village, supple, powerful and harmonious, possess the richness and incomparable finesse of the great Pomerol.
We tasted this wine in September 2023. We had already tasted it more than 5 years ago. This wine, which still seems young, is a textbook case for Bordeaux lovers. In blind tasting we immediately identify the Right Bank and its Merlot, the round and smooth appellation and the vintage (although it could be confused with 1988).
The nose offers notes of roses, cedarwood and blackberry jam. On the palate, the attack is round but without sweetness, the tannins are present, are soft and hold the wine well. A very beautiful Pomerol, possibly underrated, with an excellent value for money.
Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles were all preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles demonstrate storage in total darkness for more than 30 years!
