Cos d'Estournel 1989 - Saint-Estèphe

Is it still very useful to present the Cos d'Estournel? This 2nd classified growth from 1855 is by far the famous Saint-Estephe. Its powerful and elegant style, and the very consistent quality it has demonstrated for over 50 years, make it one of the best Bordeaux, sometimes better rated than some 1er Grand Cru Classé.

Cos almost always has considerable aging potential. The 1986 and 1988 vintages are still somewhat closed today. This 1989 vintage is "a little" more welcoming. Less round and flattering than the 1990 vintage but more open than 1986. It is according to its peak today.
