The Château de Marsannay estate extends over the best climates of the Côte de Nuits: Fixin, Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot and particularly Marsannay. Working the soil, controlling yields, long vatting and barrel aging; everything is implemented, at each stage, to reveal all the subtleties of each terroir.

The 2005 vintage in Gevrey-Chambertin: Simply sublime

A warm and cloudless spring that saw both early budburst and flowering. June and July were dry with high temperatures until August when the heat was not overwhelming. The sporadic showers in September rehydrated the vines. The Indian summer also allowed the grapes to slowly reach perfect phenolic maturity.

The reds have the rich, ripe fruit of a warm year, balanced by exceptional acidity, reminiscent of cooler years. Perfectly balancing deep concentration with elegant freshness, many wines have the structure needed for long-term aging.
