Collection: Sauternes - Barsac

Contrary to what one might think, Sauternes and Barsac are not "easy" wines to taste. Whether young or very old, Sauternes have such great aromatic depth that it is almost impossible to fathom it, even for great tasters.

There has been a classification established in Sauternes since 1855 (that is to say yesterday). To put it simply, Yquem is above the rest, ahead of Rieussec, Coutet, Guiraud, La Tour Blanche and many others. Each of these Châteaux has its own style, more or less powerful, more or less spicy, etc. It is also important to select a Sauternes based on what you like, without taking into account the classifications.

For liqueur wines, and perhaps even more so than elsewhere, the quality of the vintage is crucial, because it is the climatic conditions which determine the presence or absence of the famous Botrytis or noble rot.
