Château Léoville Las Cases 1975 - 2nd classified growth of Saint-Julien - 92 RP
The Grand Vin de Léoville from the Marquis de Las Cases comes from exceptional terroirs. The Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet Francs give this wine a completely unique character.
This grand cru of Saint-Julien, ranked 2nd in 1855, is almost always among the best Bordeaux.
Léoville Las Cases 1975: Tasting notes by R. Parker
The 1975 Léoville Las Cases is arguably one of the great successes of the vintage. Dark ruby-garnet, slightly amber on the edge, it exudes characteristic aromas of mineral, pencil and sweet cassis with hints of flint. Very full-bodied, thick and concentrated, it is surprisingly muscular and powerful, and should establish itself as one of the wines of the vintage best suited to long aging. Its richness and intensity are simply sensational. It is certainly impressive, but hard and little evolved. 92 points. (tasted in 1995)
Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles have all been preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
