History of Maison Mumm

Founded in 1827, Maison Mumm is one of the most prestigious Champagne houses, known worldwide for its iconic Cordon Rouge and René Lalou vintages. This house, based in Reims, has always aimed for excellence by selecting the best vintages in the region. With its slogan "Only the Best", it embodies refinement and innovation.

Presentation of the Cuvée Brut Millésimé

The Mumm Brut Millésimé , formerly called Cordon Rouge , is a unique expression of its vintage, produced only in exceptional years. It represents the very essence of the house, with a perfect balance between power, finesse and freshness. This cuvée, assembled from grapes from the Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, is recognized for its remarkable aging capacity.

Introducing the fantastic 1979 Vintage

The year 1979 offered ideal climatic conditions in the Champagne region, allowing for a harvest of exceptional quality. A hot and sunny summer followed by cool nights favored perfect ripeness of the grapes, giving rise to wines with a beautiful structure, lively acidity and great aging potential.

    • Important note :
In November 2024, we tasted the 1985 vintage of the same cuvée. To our surprise, this champagne seemed immortal ! Young, vibrant and fresh on the palate, it only revealed its great age through a complex nose of toasted brioche, roasted hazelnut and elegant pastry aromas. If the 1985 was already a masterpiece, the 1979 vintage stands out even more and represents a real gem to savor or collect.
  • Probable tasting notes (based on the 1985 vintage) :

    • Nose : Complex and evolved, combining aromas of toasted brioche, hazelnut, honey and baked apple.
