Beaune 1er cru Grèves "Vine of the Child Jesus" 1976 - Bouchard Père & Fils
Low stock: 1 left
The name "Vine of the Child Jesus" refers to a historical anecdote.
It is said that Marguerite du Saint-Sacrement, Carmelite founder of the Domestics of the Family of the Holy Child Jesus, predicted the birth of King Louis XIV of France when his mother Anne of Austria was sterile. When the future Sun King was born, this exceptional vineyard belonging to the Carmelites took the name "Vine of the Child Jesus".
In 1791, during the sale of national products, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils acquired the land, located in the heart of the 32 hectares of the Beaune Grèves appellation. It still has the monopoly today.
TASTING NOTE: Notes of cooked mushrooms and earth, very ripe black fruits. On the palate the red cherry is still there. The wine is there, it offers a structure and a length that still show a beautiful luminosity for its age and this vintage. 1976 was a very rich vintage due to a great drought and low yields, it is now taking full advantage of its long years of aging.
