Beaune 1er cru "Les Vignes Franches" 1988 - Rebourgeon-Mure
Beaune 1er cru "Les Vignes Franches" 1988 - Rebourgeon-Mure
Low stock: 1 left
It was in the Middle Ages, following the ravages caused by successive wars and the plague, that it was decided not to charge taxes to winegrowers wishing to work in the vineyard. Hence the name "les vignes franches".
This premier cru, close to Pommard, is exposed on a gentle slope towards the East on stony soils. The wines produced there are known and appreciated for their spicy and peppery flavor.
In white as in red, the "Beaune" appellations reach venerable ages without any problems. This is thanks to their high acidity and possibly to the fact that a few bunches of Gamay slipped into the vats (but shh it's a secret). If you have the opportunity, try to taste Beaune from the 40s and 50s, you will be surprised.
