Founded in 1843 in Aÿ, the Besserat de Bellefon house is renowned for its production of "gastronomic" champagne. It was born from the marriage of Edmond Besserat and Yvonne Méric de Bellefon. Indeed, not undergoing malolactic fermentation, their champagnes are known to be wines for laying down.
The house owns 25 hectares of land and sources grapes from local winegrowers to increase their production capacity. Besserat de Bellefon champagne now belongs to the Lanson-BCC group.
Tasting advice: To be enjoyed by two people, four maximum, otherwise you will be sad that there is only one bottle. Open the bottle, pour 5 centilitres into a glass and partially reseal the bottle to enjoy it an hour later.
We tasted several old bottles of Besserat de Bellefon, which is not the most famous Champagne house, they were all great. We specify that this is an absolutely subjective opinion.
