Château Calon-Ségur has one of the most beautiful histories among the Bordeaux Châteaux. It was in fact the favorite of the Marquis de Ségur who, although he owned other small but pleasant estates such as Mouton, Lafite and Latour (no less), preferred Calon. Hence the very famous phrase "I make my wine in Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon.

The average annual production of the grand vin is around 80,000 bottles, which is low compared to other local estates.
