History of the Estate

Château de Maligny , owned by the Durup family, is one of the emblematic estates of Chablis. Located in the north of the appellation, it is renowned for producing wines that faithfully reflect the Chablis terroir.

The Premier Cru "L'Homme Mort" or "the dead man" in english, is a plot located in the "Fourchaume" climate, renowned for its wines of great finesse and minerality. Two explanations are given to explain the unattractive name of this climate:

- A slip of the tongue, "the dead elm", an old tree used to mark out plots. - The presence of a small cemetery at the entrance to the valley. A few sarcophagi from the Merovingian period containing skeletons were unearthed there.

Presentation of the 1995 Vintage

The 1995 vintage offered favorable climatic conditions in Chablis, allowing for optimal ripening of the grapes. The Château de Maligny Chablis Premier Cru "L'Homme Mort" 1995 has a bright straw yellow color with green highlights. On the nose, it reveals complex aromas of ripe fruit, mineral notes and a touch of honey. On the palate, the wine is balanced, with a beautiful liveliness and a persistent finish.
