Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillon" 1994 - J. Moreau et Fils
Chablis 1er Cru "Vaillon" 1994 - J. Moreau et Fils
Chablis
Low stock: 1 left
The Jean-Joseph Moreau house is the oldest in Chablis, it has existed since 1814. 105 ha of vines belong to the appellation 1er cru "Vaillon". This 1er cru is particularly well exposed. On gentle slopes, facing south/southeast on Kimmeridgian marls, and compact slabs.
The 1994 vintage is considered a "Grand Vintage" in the same way as 1998 or 1986.
Tasted in August 2021 (you know that "summer" during which the temperature did not exceed 25°C in Switzerland): On the nose, we have notes of orange peel and pastry cream. It is in the mouth that we are a little disconcerted, a very dry, frank wine, and unlike what we could expect given the color, very little oxidized. A pleasant surprise in the end.
We obviously let the current works manager do a quality check, everything is ok.
