Presentation of the Cuvée Brut Impérial

Brut Impérial is a true icon of the house. Developed to express the harmony of the Champagne grape varieties, this cuvée is renowned for its consistency and balance. Non-vintage, it represents the timeless signature of Moët & Chandon, accessible and versatile.

History of the House of Moët & Chandon

Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, Moët & Chandon is one of the most emblematic houses of Champagne. Known for its prestigious vintages, notably the famous "Dom Pérignon", the house of Moët has embodied excellence and refinement for over two centuries.

Specificities of this Cuvée Brut Impérial end of 1970 beginning of 1980

Although not a vintage cuvée , this collectible bottle offers an exceptional opportunity to taste a historic champagne, produced over 40 years ago, at a much more affordable price than a vintage from the same period. Perfect for a unique experience without breaking the bank.

  • Technical details :

    • Blend : Majority of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, balanced by Pinot Meunier to provide roundness and suppleness.
    • Dosage : Raw (around 9-10 g/L), suitable for maintaining great freshness.
    • Estimated production period : Late 1970s, early 1980s, based on bottle and packaging design.
    • Conservation : Perfect overall condition: label intact, clear and bright color, excellent level, capsule in good condition.
  • Tasting notes :

    • Color : Pale gold with brilliant reflections, subtle and persistent effervescence.
    • Nose : Elegant bouquet of dried fruits (almond, hazelnut), mixed with notes of honey, biscuit and a discreet floral touch.
    • Palate : Beautiful freshness and balanced structure, evolved but still lively aromas, with a pleasant acidity on the finish. A seductive vintage with its harmony and finesse.

Food and Wine Pairings

Thanks to its classic style and evolved aromas, this vintage is ideal to accompany:

  • Starters: Seafood platter or poultry terrine.
  • Dishes: Parmesan risotto, roasted poultry with herbs or sole fillet with beurre blanc.
  • Cheeses: Young Comté or fresh goat's cheese.
  • Desserts: Thin apple tart or almond financier.

This champagne is perfect for all bubble tasters. Fine and elegant, it will seduce connoisseurs. Aromatic and smooth, it will charm discoverers.

At Wuat we are not fond of the Moët & Chandon brand. But we must admit that the old vintages are sublime.
