The name “Royale Réserve” refers to the ancestors of the Philipponnat family, vineyard owners, merchants and winemakers, suppliers to Louis XIV, magistrates

and royal mayors of Ay.

The Royal Reserve cuvée is the classic cuvée of the Philipponnat house. In the heart of Champagne in Mareuil sur Aÿ, the Philipponnat house produces great Champagne wines.

Blend of pure vintage from the noblest terroirs and a majority of Pinot Noir. Low dosage, it expresses great vinosity without losing freshness. Ideal aperitif, it will accompany starters and poultry just as well.

This wine was disgorged in May 2005 after aging for at least 3 years in chalk pits.
