Château Ausone 1980 - 1st Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Emilion
Presentation of the domain:
Château Ausone is one of the most legendary estates in Bordeaux. Located on the right bank of the Garonne, in Saint-Émilion, it is classified 1er grand cru classé A. Its history dates back to Roman times, but it was in the 18th century that the estate began to produce world-renowned wines. Today, it is run by the Vauthier family, who took over the reins of the estate in 1997.
Presentation of the Ausone - Saint-Émilion vintage:
The Ausone cuvée is considered one of the greatest wines of Saint-Émilion, and perhaps even of all of Bordeaux. It is an exceptional wine, produced in very small quantities (around 20,000 bottles per year), from a blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Ausone cuvée is known for its finesse, complexity and length in the mouth.
Exceptional provenance in CBO: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles have all been preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
Serving Tips:
Ausone 1980 should be served at a temperature of 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to decant it at least one hour before tasting. The wine should be served in large quality red wine glasses.
