Château Cantenac Brown 1990 - Margaux

Château Cantenac Brown 1990 , a grand cru classé in 1855 of the Margaux appellation, is an iconic property in Margaux. Founded in the early 19th century by John Lewis Brown, a Scottish wine enthusiast, the château is distinguished by its architecture of Tudor style, unique in the Médoc. Today, the estate extends over 48 hectares of vines , where the noble Bordeaux grape varieties predominate: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc .

Thanks to rigorous work in the vineyards and precise vinification, Cantenac Brown has forged a reputation as a producer of elegant and structured wines, perfectly representative of their appellation.

Vintage 1990

The 1990 vintage is considered one of the most exceptional of the 20th century in Bordeaux. It was a year marked by ideal climatic conditions: a warm spring, a dry and sunny summer, as well as a harvest carried out under perfect conditions. These conditions allowed the grapes to reach optimum maturity, producing rich, concentrated wines of great finesse.

When tasted, this 1990 reveals a deep and brilliant garnet color. The nose is complex, mixing notes of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, cedar, leather and a subtle touch of truffle, typical of the evolution of the great Margaux. On the palate, it seduces with its velvety texture, depth and perfectly integrated tannins, which wrap around flavors of candied fruits, sweet spices and a fine and elegant woodiness. Its long and harmonious finish offers a true sensory experience. A wine ready to be tasted, but which can still evolve admirably in the cellar.
