Chateau de Sales 1993 – Pomerol

History of the House

Château de Sales, a historic estate in Pomerol, is the largest in the appellation with 47 hectares of vines. This family vineyard, passed down from generation to generation for over five centuries, produces refined and elegant wines, emblematic of the region. The estate is named after the imposing 17th century château, which still houses the family owner today. With a majority of Merlot grape varieties, supplemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Château de Sales makes a point of preserving the typicality and authenticity of the Pomerol terroirs.

Presentation of the Cuvée

Château de Sales produces wines with an elegant and accessible style, with a good ageing capacity. Thanks to careful aging in oak barrels, these vintages develop aromas of ripe red fruits, sweet spices and slightly woody notes. Their silky texture and balanced structure make them seductive wines that wonderfully reflect the refinement of Pomerol.

Presentation of the 1993 Vintage

The 1993 vintage in Bordeaux is considered a challenge for winemakers, marked by unpredictable weather conditions, including rain during the harvest. However, attentive producers were able to take advantage of the dry and sunny periods of summer to produce balanced wines, with marked acidity and well-integrated tannins. In Pomerol, the wines of the 1993 vintage have a beautiful freshness, subtle aromas and a delicate structure. They are often appreciated for their accessibility and finesse.
