Château Figeac 1982 - Saint-Emilion

Presentation of the domain:

Château Figeac is a renowned wine estate located in Saint-Émilion, Gironde. Founded in 1732, it is one of the oldest estates in the region. The property covers 40 hectares, including 35 hectares of vines. The vineyard is planted on an exceptional terroir, composed of gravel and clay, which gives it a high quality and a unique typicity.

It benefits from a gravelly terroir where the other Saint Emilion crus are located on clay-limestone soils. The dominant Cabernet grape variety is therefore adapted to produce powerful and structured wines in the style of Medoc wines rather than in the Saint-Emilion style.

Another particularity is that the aging is systematically 100% in new barrels. Ensuring a structure and significant aging potential.

Finally, very precise vinification using avant-garde techniques has allowed Figeac to ensure great consistency in the quality of its productions.

Due to its consistency, its aging potential and its unique style, Figeac is one of the Bordeaux wines most sought after by wine lovers.

Tasting notes of Figeac 1982 by R. Parker:

A dense plum/garnet color with a slight lightening at the rim is followed by a sensational Figeac nose of mint, fruitcake, Asian spices, touches of sweet black and red fruits and a smoky component in the background. Medium to full-bodied with a lovely freshness, this 1982 seems to have reached full maturity" (Tasted June 2009)

Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles have all been preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
