HAUT-BAILLY 1995 - PESSAC-LEOGNAN

The Château has evolved a lot over the last few decades. It is now organically farmed, the grape varieties of the vineyard have changed to be better adapted to the climatic conditions.

Don't hesitate to visit the official website of the Château. It is particularly complete and modern, not to say futuristic.

About the 1995 vintage for Graves: Wines for laying down with a good price-pleasure ratio

For Bordeaux, the 1995 vintage is widely recognized as an excellent year for both banks.

The winter and spring were mild, although spring rains were crucial in rebalancing the water table and flowering continued uninterrupted. The summer was so hot and dry that it broke records. The harvest began at the end of September in dry and sunny conditions and produced an abundant and healthy crop.

The majority of the wines were rich and structured with intensely concentrated fruit and high tannins. Graves and Médoc, particularly the St-Julien and Pauillac of the Médoc, all produced excellent wines, but the lack of elegance in many wines prevented the vintage from being truly great.

Tasting notes from R. Parker:

This deep ruby-colored wine with a classic nose of smoke, cherry, cassis and redcurrant is a pure delight. Medium-bodied, with sweet, rich and well-evolved fruit, this wine is truly delicate and elegant (neither lean nor diluted), and reveals a sumptuous, persistent, supple and velvety finish. 90 points (November 1997)

Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles have all been preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
