Château La Pointe is one of the oldest estates in the Pomerol appellation. Located to the west of the Pomerol plateau, it takes its name from its unique triangular shape. The estate covers approximately 23 hectares, making it one of the largest in the appellation. This exceptional terroir, composed of soils that mix clay and gravel, gives rise to elegant, accessible and very fine wines.
Presentation of the 1981 vintage:
1981 is an often underestimated vintage, but one that produced balanced and seductive wines. This Château La Pointe 1981 has a garnet-tile color , evidence of its fine age. The nose is refined, revealing tertiary aromas of undergrowth, mushrooms, leather and tobacco, accompanied by candied red fruits such as cherry and strawberry. On the palate , we find a beautiful roundness with melted tannins and subtle notes of sweet spices and liquorice. The finish, elegant and persistent, reflects all the charm of a mature Pomerol.
