Château Lagrange 1985 - 3rd classified growth of Saint-Julien
This 3rd classified growth of Saint-Julien is in some ways the unloved of the group. However, it shows a regularity and an admirable quality which allows it to shine on the "weak" vintages.
Like many of its contemporaries, this 1985 Lagrange has passed its peak of maturity. The fruitiness has given way to more evolved notes and aromas of tobacco, earth, cedar, olive, grass and pepper. This firm, classic but very complex wine will appeal to lovers of old wines. However, it has great aging potential, making it still very drinkable today.
The 1985 vintage is one of the best produced by Château Lagrange with 89 Parker points. We therefore advise you to wake it up gently by serving it at least two hours after opening the bottle.
Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles have all been preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
