Château Latour 1973 - 1st grand cru classé of Pauillac
History of the House
Château Latour, one of the most prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux, embodies the excellence of Pauillac. Located in the south of the appellation, near the Gironde estuary, the estate benefits from an exceptional terroir marked by deep gravel and a clay subsoil, perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon. The history of Château Latour goes back several centuries, and its emblematic tower, the Tour de Saint-Lambert, has appeared on its label since 1924. Today, the château is renowned for its rigor in viticulture and winemaking, producing wines of consistent quality and remarkable longevity.
Presentation of the Cuvée
Château Latour produces wines with an inimitable style: powerful, rich and complex reds, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with characteristic notes of black fruits, cedar, graphite and an exceptional tannic structure. Aged in new barrels (70-100%) for 18 months, these wines age magnificently for several decades.

Presentation of the 1973 Vintage
The 1973 vintage was marked by difficult weather conditions: a rainy summer followed by warmer weather in September led to a heterogeneous harvest. The wines from this vintage offer a more subtle complexity and a rapid evolution, although some, such as Château Latour, demonstrate good stability thanks to the rigor of the estate.
