About the estate: No need to introduce this 1st grand cru classé from 1855 whose position no one will question. With its own style combining power, extreme finesse and incredible aging potential for the vast majority of its vintages, Château Margaux has a single-block vineyard. Another interesting fact is that the barrels in which the great wine evolves are assembled and heated on site (see images). Finally, it is the only Château that has given its name to an appellation.
Since 1908 the Château has produced a second wine, the famous "Pavillon Rouge" (possibly the best of the second wines). And since 1997 a third wine, the "Margaux du Château Margaux" on which we will not comment.
The 2011 vintage was marked by a severe spring drought, followed by a cool summer punctuated by heatwaves. A very important sorting had to be carried out and only the best Châteaux were able to produce wonderful wines. The extremely low yields of 29hl/ha make this vintage particularly rare.
