Château Pibarnon 1995 - Bandol

One of the most famous areas of Bandol with Gaussen!

A superb wine for laying down! Will you have the patience to let it rest in the cellar or will you enjoy it now?

 History of the Estate

Located on the heights of Bandol, Château de Pibarnon is an emblematic estate of the appellation. Founded in the 1950s, it owes its rise to the Saint-Victor family who, since 1978, have made this vineyard an essential reference. Its exceptional terroir, composed of clay-limestone soils and a strong presence of Triassic limestone, offers a perfect balance between power and finesse. With an area of approximately 50 hectares, the estate mainly works Mourvèdre, the king grape variety of Bandol, supplemented by Grenache to bring roundness and suppleness. The estate's vines dominate the valley, up to 300m above sea level, not far from the sea.

Presentation of the Cuvée

The Bandol Rouge from Château de Pibarnon is a wine for laying down par excellence. It is made from old Mourvèdre (90%) and Grenache (10%) vines. The vinification is done in wooden vats, with gentle extractions to preserve the elegance of the tannins. The 18 to 20 months of aging in oak barrels allows the structure to be refined and a remarkable aromatic complexity to develop.

Presentation of the 1997 Vintage

1997 was a vintage with favorable climatic conditions, marked by beautiful sunshine and harvests in dry weather, allowing optimal maturity of the grapes. After more than 25 years in the cellar, this wine retains an impressive structure and great freshness. We tasted it recently: it is still young, with powerful tannins and a remarkable aromatic complexity. Notes of black fruits, sweet spices and leather mingle with a beautiful minerality.

Food & Wine Pairings

Ideal with a nice grilled rib of beef, a 7-hour leg of lamb or game in sauce.
