Chateau Pradeaux 1993 – Bandol Red
History of the House
Château Pradeaux, located in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, is one of the oldest estates in Bandol. Owned by the Portalis family since 1752, this iconic estate covers 25 hectares of vines in clay-limestone soil, typical of the appellation. Mourvèdre reigns supreme, with sustainable cultivation and traditional vinification. The estate's philosophy is based on powerful, dense and long-lived wines, perfectly illustrating the Bandol style.
Presentation of the Cuvée
This Bandol red is a traditional cuvée that highlights the power and structure of Mourvèdre. With 48 months of aging in large tuns, Château Pradeaux produces a distinguished, complex wine that can age for several decades. Its aromatic profile is marked by notes of black fruits, leather, spices and garrigue.
Presentation of the 1993 Vintage
1993 was a year with demanding but favorable climatic conditions for Mourvèdre. This vintage produced wines with a beautiful tannic structure and evolved aromas. Today, the 1993 Château Pradeaux reveals a complex nose combining truffle, undergrowth and sweet spices. On the palate, it stands out for its balance between concentrated material and a still intact liveliness.
Presentation and specificity of this vintage
Bottle in excellent condition. This 1993 vintage is expressed today with a perfect balance between power and finesse. The Mourvèdre, the main grape variety, gives here a dense structure and melted tannins. Expect a beautiful length in the mouth, on tertiary notes such as leather and liquorice.
Food and Wine Pairing
This Bandol is the ideal accompaniment to rich and tasty dishes: Provençal stew, game in sauce, leg of lamb with herbs or even a platter of mature cheeses.
