Chateau Talbot 1988 - Saint-Julien
History of the House
Located in the heart of Saint-Julien, Château Talbot is a Quartième Grand Cru Classé in 1855. With its 110 hectares in one piece, it is one of the largest properties in the Médoc. The classic grape varieties, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (66%) and complemented by Merlot (27%), with touches of Petit Verdot, flourish on Garonne gravel soils, favoring wines of great longevity.
Château Talbot is renowned for its exemplary consistency, even in the most difficult vintages. With an excellent quality-price ratio and a remarkable ageing capacity, it is one of the châteaux that we like to offer you in several vintages. Talbot embodies the finesse and power of the great Saint-Julien, while remaining accessible.
Presentation of the Cuvée
The 1988 vintage, with its tannic structure marked by a rather cool year, allowed Château Talbot to produce a wine of beautiful complexity. Aromas of ripe red fruits, undergrowth and nuances of leather characterize this cuvée. On the palate, the balance between freshness and richness announces a wine still in great shape after decades.
Food and Wine Pairing
Ideal with traditional dishes such as roast beef, grilled rib steak or game. It also goes very well with mature cheeses or dishes in sauce such as coq au vin.
