Chateau Vignelaure 1978 - Aix en Provence hillsides
"Without the sun, I am nothing"
About the domain:
Located on the land of the oldest vines in France, Château Vignelaure was taken over by Georges Brunet (former owner of Château la Lagune) at the end of the 1960s.
Mr. Brunet renamed Château Saint-Estève to Vignelaure (Vine of Laure, muse of the poet Petrarch). He initiated the cultivation of Cabernet-Sauvignon in Provence. The grafts came directly from La Lagune. Eloi Dürrbach vinified two vintages there before creating the Trévallon estate with the success he is known for.
After several changes of ownership, the estate is once again on the way to good quality.
About the vintage:
Only 235,000 bottles produced for this 1978 vintage. The estate is swept by the winds, allowing it for many years to practice cultivation without chemical fertilizers, herbicides or synthetic insecticides. This information has appeared on the labels since the early 1970s!
About the 1978 vintage:
An exceptional vintage in Provence, all the conditions were met to produce great wines for laying down.
Tasting advice
Unlike many old wines whose main grape variety is Cabernet Sauvignon, we advise you NOT to decant it because you would lose the balance between sweetness and acidity. A wine that will provide beautiful emotions to lovers of old and original wines.
