Clos De Vougeot 2006 - Vincent Girardin Grand Cru

There is not one "Clos de Vougeot" but a multitude of "Clos de Vougeots". Unlike many other grands crus such as Clos de Tart or Clos des Lambrays for which the owners have a monopoly or are very few in number and can therefore imprint a style on the wines. Clos Vougeot is owned by a multitude of winegrowers, each with their own style.

If we add to this the diversity of the terroir within this large enclosure of almost 50 hectares, with high, low, sloping or flat parts, a diversity of soils and subsoil and whose vines are more or less young, it becomes very difficult to find your way around.

Fortunately, we are here to help you, at least a little. Generally speaking, Burgundy wines are the result of the encounter between three elements: The sky (understand the quality of the vintage), the Earth (understand soil and subsoil) and Man (understand the work of the winemaker). Pinot noir is the grape variety that best restores these different variables and this is why Burgundy fascinates us so much and is one of the most difficult terroirs to understand and taste (along with Champagne, Sauternes and Piedmont in our opinion).

Vincent Girardin's wines are almost easy to understand, the vinification is done with modern tools (thermoregulated vats, optical sorters for the grains, etc.) but classic techniques (indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, etc.). You don't understand anything about the technique? It doesn't matter.

To put it simply, this Grand Cru is welcoming, round, suave with aromas of black cherries, blackberries and musk. A wine that will please all Pinot lovers, both connoisseurs and discoverers. Because, ultimately, the most important thing for a wine is that it brings people together, right?
