History of Gros Frère et Soeur Estate

Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur is one of the branches of the prestigious Gros family, whose origins date back to the 19th century. Located in Vosne-Romanée, this family estate is distinguished by its mastery of the great Burgundian terroirs, including Clos de Vougeot and Richebourg. Founded in 1963, it is known for producing wines of great richness, often marked by aging in new oak barrels. Today, the estate is a must for lovers of great Burgundy wines, combining tradition and modernity in its winemaking practices.

Presentation of the Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru appellation

Clos de Vougeot, located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, is one of the most famous crus in Burgundy. Created by Cistercian monks in the 12th century, this 50-hectare vineyard is shared between many producers. The soils, rich in limestone and clay, produce complex, powerful and elegant wines, perfect for prolonged aging. Among the most renowned plots, the "Musigni" climate is located in the upper part of the Clos, where the draining soils and ideal exposure produce wines of exceptional finesse.

Presentation of the 1998 vintage in Burgundy

The 1998 vintage was marked by heterogeneous climatic conditions in Burgundy. After a rainy and cool spring, summer arrived late with high temperatures and dry weather. The harvest, carried out in September, produced ripe grapes with good acidity, especially for the Pinot Noir. The red wines of this vintage are often structured, elegant and of great aromatic finesse, with impressive aging potential.

Presentation and Specificity of this Cuvée

This Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru "Musigni" 1998 from Gros Frère et Sœur comes from a plot located on the southern edge of the famous Musigny, giving it exceptional quality. The wine combines the power of Clos de Vougeot and the finesse characteristic of the Vosne-Romanée terroirs.
