Pomerol
Low stock: 3 left
Clos l'Eglise is a 5.89 ha property of Pomerol producing around 25,000 bottles per year. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was one of the best Pomerols with L'Evangile, La Conseillante and Vieux Château Certan. At that time, Savinien Giraud, then owner of Trotanoy, was thinking of creating a classification for the Pomerol appellation. Clos l'Eglise would have appeared as a second growth behind Petrus.
But, after many historical hazards and a sawtooth quality, it was necessary to wait until 1997 and the arrival of the Garcin-Cathiard family for Clos L'Eglise to regain its former level.
Since then, winemaking methods and work in the vineyard have evolved considerably and Clos L'Eglise receives fantastic reviews almost every year.
This 1999 vintage is thus one of the first since the change of area. A balanced vintage which is currently at its peak. Lovers of old wines will be able to wait a few more years for it.
