The Taittinger House

Founded in 1734, one of the historic houses of Champagne. The Comtes de Champagne embody the exceptional know-how of this house, paying homage to Thibaud IV, Counts of Champagne, who brought back the Chardonnay vine from Cyprus in the 13th century.

Vintage:

The 1983 vintage in Champagne benefited from a favorable climate, with a hot summer and a harvest under the sun. The wines are well structured, with a beautiful acidity and an excellent aging potential. Today, these champagnes are still fine and elegant, with a beautiful aromatic evolution.

Technical Details:

• Terroir:

70% Pinot Noir coming exclusively from the Grands Crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Part of the Pinot Noir is vinified in red, bringing the structure and color characteristic of this cuvée.

30% Chardonnay from Great Growths exclusively located on the prestigious Côte des Blancs (Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger). These limestone terroirs give the wine finesse, minerality and freshness.

• Tasting notes : Aromas of candied red fruits, sweet spices, undergrowth and fine leather. The palate is ample and silky, with a long, slightly toasted finish.
