Counts Lafon 1995 - Meursault "Clos de la Barre"
Meursault
Low stock: 3 left
With a rich history that began in Meursault at the end of the 19th century, the now legendary Domaine des Comtes Lafon is still today a family property run by the descendants of Jules Lafon.
The vineyard covers "only" 16.30 hectares spread over 15 appellations in 4 communes: Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthelie.
This Clos de la Barre cuvée is a monopoly of only 2ha12 located just behind the estate's residential house. The vines on the plot are 30 to 80 years old.
This unique Meursault, with its mineral and lively character, will need to age for several years to settle down. When young, it will reveal citrus aromas that will evolve towards more pastry and mineral notes over time.
The 1995 vintage harvest took place on September 28 and 29. The difficult flowering conditions resulted in very low yields of only 25 hectoliters per hectare. The whites of this vintage are excellent and comparable to 1992 thanks to the good ripening conditions of the grapes.
