About the domain:

The Vallouit estate was a magnificent family estate in the northern Rhone Valley. One of the few to own vines in all the appellations of the northern Rhone, with the obvious exception of Château Grillet.

In 2001, the estate's vines were taken over by Guigal, who incorporated them into his vintages.

About the vintage:

This very peppery Côte-Rôtie is particularly dense, offers aromas of liquorice and always some notes of black fruits!

About the 1985 vintage:

An excellent vintage for Rhône wines and particularly for the Northern Rhône in Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage. The Syrahs are concentrated, balanced, rich and very aromatic. As is often the case, the great Côte-Rôtie vintages age very well.
