Côte-Rôtie 2000 - Domaine Jamet
Presentation of the Jamet estate
The first vintage of the Jamet estate dates back to 1976. It is therefore in just a few decades that this estate has risen to the level of the best estates producing wonderful wines in the northern Côtes du Rhône. Today, Jean-Paul Jamet has succeeded his father at the head of the estate, alongside his wife Corinne and his son Loïc.
Made from a whole Syrah harvest, never destemmed and aged for 22 months in barrels in only 15% new wood, this vintage is a blend of 20 plots, 15 of which are in localities, Côte-Blonde being one of them.
The wines from this estate, and particularly the Côtes-Rôties, are made to age for decades. If you are a fan of very great Syrah, this opportunity will not come around often.
The 2000 vintage in Côte-Rôtie: The North is the big winner
A contrasting vintage in the Rhone Valley. The heavy rains have favoured high volumes and less concentrated wines than the previous great vintages (1998 and 1999).
The most northerly appellations, including Côtes-Rôties, have produced very fine, fruity, supple wines with great aromatic complexity.
