About the domain:

The L. de Vallouit estate was a magnificent family estate in the northern Rhône valley. One of the few to own vines in all the appellations of the northern Rhône, with the exception of Château Grillet of course. In 2001, the estate's vines were taken over by Guigal, who incorporated them into some of his most prestigious vintages.

About the Roziers vintage:

This is a single-plot cuvée from Domaine de Vallouit. Don't let its charming name fool you. This very peppery Côte-Rôtie is particularly dense and tannic. It offers aromas of liquorice and spices and always some notes of black fruits! A bottle to open at least three hours before tasting.

About the 1985 vintage in Côte-Rôtie:

An excellent vintage for all Rhône wines and particularly for the Northern Rhône in Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage. The Syrahs are concentrated, balanced, rich and very aromatic. As is often the case, the great Côte-Rôtie vintages age very well.
