Domaine Laroche - Chablis 1er cru "Les Montmains" 2014
About the domain:
The Obédiencerie is a historic building that bears witness to more than 1000 years of history! The cellars of the Laroche estate are established there to produce exclusively Chablis wines in the village, 1er cru and grand cru appellations.
The estate has owned vines in Languedoc since the early 2000s with Mas la Chevalière.
About the vintage:
The 1er cru "Les Montmains" from the Laroche estate is a "climat" on slightly sloping hillsides on the banks of the Serein. This sun-drenched terroir and the clay soil make it a powerful and structured early premier cru.
WUAT Review : We tasted some Laroche Montmains from the late 1980s, the wines gave the impression of not aging. As with many wines from the Chablis appellation, you can keep them for many years before tasting them. Definitely an excellent price/pleasure ratio.
About the 2014 vintage in Chablis:
The 2014 vintage was the warmest in Chablis in the last 130 years. However, the region experienced rainfall that provided the freshness needed to produce great, ripe and balanced white wines. Despite the bad weather, particularly the hail, production was significant.
